How much is a Disney plus subscription?
On Monday, news broke that Disney was planning a streaming service of its own to compete with Netflix. While details are still thin, we do know a few things—namely that it’ll be called Disney+ and it’ll launch sometime in late 2019. We also know that for $7.99 a month, you’ll get access to all of Disney’s content (including Marvel Studios films), as well as new original programming exclusive to Disney+. The first wave will include Star Wars: The Mandalorian from Jon Favreau and Rogue One director Gareth Edwards; an untitled live-action series from Marvel TV featuring Tom Hiddleston; a rebooted High School Musical series; Monsters Inc.
How many devices can I watch at once?
Depending on your subscription, you can stream shows and movies through up to six devices at once. You can even download content for offline viewing—think plane rides or long car rides!—and watch your favorite shows even if you don’t have internet access. While only one person needs an account to watch at a time, having multiple accounts (one per family member, perhaps) will allow you to stream through more devices at once. As much as we all love to save money, most of us also love buying new gadgets. To get a great deal on both: Pick up your new device in-store and sign up for service right then and there.
Does my current Netflix/Amazon Prime account transfer to Disney plus?
Netflix and Amazon Prime memberships can be transferred from one account to another. However, it’s worth noting that you won’t be able to use any of your current watchlists or Queues when you sign up for a different service. And if you switch your main Netflix/Amazon account back at a later date, you might lose access to any shows you started watching on your second account until it becomes active.
What exactly do I get with my subscription?
While there’s currently no official word from Disney about what exactly their streaming service will feature, it’s clear that they’ll be offering more than just their live-action remakes of animated classics. In fact, in 2018 they announced that they were developing four new series based off Marvel properties. There are also reports of a Jon Favreau-produced Star Wars series and an Indiana Jones reboot is being developed for release on next year’s service.
