With the new Call of Duty, Black Ops, getting ready to hit store shelves, it’s no surprise that fans of the series are eagerly anticipating the release date and pre-ordering the game as soon as possible to ensure that they don’t miss out on what promises to be a winner. If you are one of those people, or just want to learn more about what makes this new game tick before you make your decision, keep reading! Here are 5 reasons why Call of Duty: Black Ops will leave you begging for more!
The Story
Many games come and go. They have great sound effects, amazing graphics, and a wicked storyline to get gamers excited. But none of them offer up as much historical value as Call of Duty: Black Ops. This game not only offers you an unparalleled gaming experience—it also provides you with an in-depth look at one of America’s most iconic battles in recent history. Playing through Call of Duty: Black Ops puts players directly in front-and-center during America’s secret war with Russia at the beginning of a long period known as The Cold War. The game takes place between 1945 to 1964; it recounts some pivotal moments in history that everyone should know about while they simultaneously bring out hidden themes that are rarely talked about.
The Guns
How many times have you had a weapon that didn’t serve your style? Now you can choose from over 100 weapons, including classics such as Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles. There are also many new additions to choose from. My personal favorite is called Motherland. This fully automatic assault rifle carries up to 120 rounds per clip with an ammunition reserve of 240 (which means you don’t have to reload). It’s great for stealth missions or when you’re in a pinch! No matter which weapon you chose, there will be someone that fits your style. Everyone can find something they like.
The Game Modes
The classic game modes are all here, but with a twist. Players will have access to Team Deathmatch, Capture-the-Flag and other familiar experiences, but with several additional objectives thrown in for good measure. All of these game modes can be played solo or co-op (with up to 4 players) and they’re spread across several ‘modes’ which include Escort, Demolition, Sabotage and more. There’s also an online multiplayer mode that lets you play against others around the world. This version of Black Ops takes full advantage of its setting by letting players complete missions as either CIA agents or KGB operatives. This adds some variety to your experience and makes it feel like two different games. The Graphics: With such a unique setting, it was inevitable that Treyarch would take full advantage of it by creating detailed environments throughout Russia and Cuba. In fact, many locations were modeled after real-life places including Havana’s famous Hotel Nacional de Cuba and Moscow’s Red Square—which means you get to visit some pretty awesome places without having to leave your living room!
The Sound Effects/Music
The sound effects in CoD are excellent and do a great job putting you right into that war zone. The voice overs are well done, especially in scenes like when Alex Mason is being interrogated by Dragovich. The music is great, it really helps keep you at an intense level of intensity to get you really involved with what’s going on in game and help immerse yourself into what’s going on.
Multiplayer/Zombies/Special Features
Zombies is a mode that’s very popular for most players. In fact, in my experience (as well as talking to other gamers), it’s actually one of their favorite game modes. That being said, I was somewhat disappointed with it because I felt that Zombies lacked some major aspects that could have been present in order to truly make it stand out and be more fun to play. One example of an aspect being absent would be online multiplayer options; there are absolutely none at all.
